Chapter 10:

In chapter 10 in,” The Awakening,” written by Kate Chopin, all of the party people were taking a midnight dip in the ocean and swimming around. Edna has taken multiple lessons from different people but hasn’t perfected swimming yet. That night Edna was so overcome with excited emotions that she began to swim flawlessly. She was overcome with joy and was joyously screaming. Edna overcame her fear of drowning and swam “where no woman has gone before.” (Chopin, Page 47). After swimming for awhile she decided to walk back home and Robert, surprisingly, joined her. Edna decided to lay in the hammock outside her cottage to wait for Mr. Pontellier and Robert waits with her. This night both Edna and Robert felt a spark towards each other.
