In chapter 19 of,” The Awakening,” written by Kate Chopin, Edna began to realize how childish her little outburst was and continued on without anymore. Instead she did only what she pleased. “She completely abandoned her Tuesdays at home, and did not return the visits of those who called upon her.” (Chopin, page 95). Mr. Pontellier began to lose his patience and feel angry towards his wife’s decisions. He wondered if his wife was mentally unbalanced because she, in his eyes, wasn’t acting like herself. Little did he know that she was more herself than ever. Edna spent a lot of her time painting. She even used the maids as her models. Some days Edna feels very content and happy and she does not know why. Other times she feels rather depressed.
