In chapter 15 in,” The Awakening,” written by Kate Chopin, a few days later Edna attends a dinner over at the dining hall at “the house.” She soon finds out from all of the loud chatter that Robert is leaving for Mexico that very night. Feeling betrayed by Robert for not telling her, she leaves for home. Edna tries to put her children to bed with a bedtime story but instead just makes them more excited. She changes out of her clothes and into pajamas as Adele comes over to talk to her. Adele tries convincing Edna to come back but it is no use. She goes back to the party alone. Robert goes to Edna’s cottage and sis with her. She questions him yet he doesn’t give any explanations but instead asks her to not be mad at him. Robert leaves. Edna realizes that she is feeling the same type of infatuation towards Robert that she did years ago with the other unattainable men.
