Chapter 37:

In chapter 37 of,” The Awakening,” written by Kate Chopin, Edna arrives to Madame Ratignolle and finds her in an incredible amount of pain and exhausted. Doctor Mandelet arrives and both Edna and he assist Madame. “Edna began to feel uneasy ,” (Chopin, page 181) as she watched her friend in such pain. She vaguely remembered her birth being like this for she was drugged and exhausted during her labor. Edna wished she didn’t come. Finally Madame Ratignolle is done giving birth and Edna begins saying good bye to her. Before leaving, Madame Ratignolle reminds her to think of the children.
